Sodium Bicarbonate is a high
quality animal feed buffer that helps provide the buffering
capacity necessary for maxmium ruminal activity.
Directions
for use Sodium
Bicarbonate is recommended for feeding whenever the
animals' own buffering capacity is inadequate and the
ration is acid producing.
This typically occurs:
With lactating cows producing more than 30 lbs.
of milk per day.
When lactating cows are fed ensiled forages and
grains, finely chopped hay, high-energy grains, and
high-moisture by-products.
During periods of environmental heat stress when
cows consume less dry matter, particularly fiber.
When feeding frequency is limited.
Feeding recommendations Sodium
Bicarbonate can be fed at the rate of 2-8 ounce
per head per day, depending upon level of milk production,
days in lactation, management practices, and environmental
factors. For more specific recommendations, we suggest
you contact your nutritional advisor, your feed company
nutritionist, or FMC directly.
Guidelines for feeding
For
best results, Sodium Bicarbonate should be added to
a balanced ration based on 0.8 oz. for every 10 lbs.
of milk produced per head per day.
Storage and Handling
