Benefits of Yeast Supplementation

In general, yeast supplementation has been shown to increase ration palatability, which leads to increased feed intake. It also improves digestibility of ingredients in the ration and improves rumen function so that the livestock can realize the nutritional benefits of increased feed intake. Animals under stress from shipping, excessive heat or other factors often will consume less feed thereby depriving themselves of the very nutrients that could help to ease the stress response. Getting the animals to eat under stress, having those nutrients absorbed, will help to alleviate the stress and therefore has the benefit of reducing susceptibility to disease.


Levucell SC


Levucell® SC is an active dry yeast for use as a direct-fed microbial in ruminant feeds. Levucell® SC contains the CNCM (pasteur Institute) I-10077 stain of Saccharomyces cervisiae. It is produced from a specially selected strains, has a well-understood mode of action, and provides a consistently high concentration of pure viable yeast. Levucell® SC can be used in most ruminant feeds and is especially useful for early lactation dairy cows and beef cattle finishing.
